Objectives

We are looking for a Strategic Planning Director (Strategy Director) who has experience in developing marketing, brand and communications strategies, with a strong business acumen and a passion for developing impactful total marketing solutions. You will be a manager of a strategy team within our Strategy Department, together driving outstanding business results for PMAX Consulting in practical and PMAX in general.

Job Description

1. Pitching & Client Acquisition

  • Lead strategic planning efforts in pitch development to win new business and expand existing accounts.
  • Craft compelling strategic narratives that align with both short-term brand and communication objectives and long-term business growth opportunities.
  • Develop comprehensive strategic proposals that solve client challenges and unlock new possibilities.
  • Act as a key contributor in presentations to prospective clients, playing a central role in articulating the agency’s strategic value and vision.

2. Strategic Planning & Campaign Development

  • Translate client briefs into actionable and inspiring strategic briefs for internal teams.
  • Identify insights from research, market trends, and consumer behavior to drive effective brand and communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with creative teams to ensure strategic integrity throughout the creative development process.
  • Supervise the development of integrated communication plans with clear KPIs and measurable goals.
  • Coordinate with creative, media, and account teams to align executional plans with strategic direction and budget requirements.

3. Client Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture trusted advisor relationships with key clients, providing ongoing strategic consultation and proactive business solutions.
  • Ensure alignment between client expectations and agency deliverables through consistent communication and value-added guidance.
  • Lead strategic performance reviews, demonstrating campaign effectiveness and identifying future growth opportunities.

4. Product Development

  • Lead the design and continuous refinement of strategic products and service offerings.
  • Drive the creation and implementation of strategic planning tools, frameworks, and methodologies that enhance the agency’s strategic capabilities.
  • Pilot, test, and package innovative strategy solutions to stay ahead of market demands and deliver greater client value.

5. Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and mentor a team of strategists, ensuring high performance, continuous learning, and professional growth.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the strategy team, allocating resources and setting priorities to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
  • Conduct strategic reviews and post-campaign evaluations to refine team output and strategic effectiveness.
  • Foster a collaborative and inspiring team environment that values insight, creativity, and strategic excellence.

Job Requirements

Skills & Qualifications

Must have

  • Excellent problem solving capability
  • More than 5 8+ years of experience, having a strategic planning background with strong marketing/brand/IMC/creative expertise, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience in planning at every stage of brand and communication strategy
  • Keen interest and experience in analyzing marketing problems, brand tracking research and spotting opportunities to develop the brand
  • A solid background in developing brand and communications strategies across a variety of client sectors and marketing channels both on and offline
  • A strong understanding of core best practice strategic planning skills and tools
  • Comprehensive understanding of the changing marketing landscape and new digital engagement techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Good to have

  • Experience as a Planning Director role within an integrated marketing communications (IMC) agency is a big plus
  • Understanding of business and marketing strategy
  • A good knowledge of research and media
  • Track record of growing people
